Method and limitations
A mismatched identity, text, finish or strong light transmission is treated as a strong warning. Two other visible anomalies trigger serious doubt. These conservative thresholds are not scientifically validated and never prove authenticity. Do not bend, tear or otherwise damage a card to test it.
Frequently asked questions
Is the light test enough?
No. Strong light passing through can be a warning, but an opaque card is not automatically authentic.
Can a photograph authenticate a card?
A sharp photograph may reveal mismatched text or finish, but cardstock, cut and texture still require physical inspection.
