Calculate damage and remaining HP

Enter the attack and the Defending Pokémon’s HP to see straight away whether Weakness, Resistance and your modifiers are enough for a Knock Out. Free and no account needed.

Does this attack Knock Out the Pokémon?

Add up the attack’s “+” and “−” effects in the bonus or reduction. Check the card text: some effects are not simple damage.

Example: 120 damage with Weakness ×2 deals 240. Against 280 HP, 40 HP remain.

Order of calculation: attack effects, Weakness, then Resistance, as set out in the official Pokémon TCG rulebook, checked on 13 October 2026. Calculated in your browser, no data sent.

Check a Knock Out without losing track

The damage printed on an attack is not always the final damage. An effect can change it, Weakness can double it and Resistance can reduce it.

The result brings those steps together and adds the damage already on the Pokémon. You see how much HP is left, or by how much you clear the Knock Out threshold.

How the result is calculated

Final damage = max(0, max(0, attack + modifier) × Weakness − Resistance), where Weakness is ×2 when ticked and ×1 otherwise. The bonus or reduction is added first and never takes damage below zero; Resistance is subtracted last, again never below zero.

Final damage is added to the damage already on the Pokémon. A Knock Out is shown when that total reaches or exceeds the HP entered.

Limits: the tool does not read cards. It knows nothing about Abilities, protection effects, damage counters placed directly or special rules. The card text and the rulebook always take priority.

What the result includes

  • the damage before and after Weakness;
  • the damage after Resistance;
  • the total with the damage already in play;
  • the HP left, or how far past the Knock Out you are;
  • a local link to share the same calculation.

Frequently asked questions

In what order are damage effects applied?

Add the attack’s own bonus or reduction first. Then apply Weakness, then subtract Resistance. Always check the exact text of the cards involved.

Is Weakness always ×2?

Not always. This tool offers ×2 because it is what current cards print. If your card shows another value, such as +20 on some older cards, or no Weakness, leave the box unticked and add the exact effect yourself.

How much does Resistance reduce damage?

The amount printed on the Defending Pokémon, usually −30 on current cards and −20 on many older ones. Damage never goes below zero after Resistance.

Does damage already on the Pokémon count?

Yes. It is only used to check whether the new damage reaches the Defending Pokémon’s HP. It is never multiplied by Weakness.

Does the tool apply Abilities and special effects?

No. Only enter numeric changes you are sure of. An effect that places damage counters, ignores Weakness or prevents damage has to be resolved with the card text.
