What time will your tournament finish?

Example: 33 players, 6 rounds of 50 minutes, 10 minutes between rounds and a Top 8 finish at 18:50 after a 10:00 start.

Arithmetic method. Rules context: official Play! Pokémon documents, consulted on 13 October 2026. Always check your event’s format against the version currently in force.

A usable schedule before players arrive

Swiss pairing lets every registered player play several rounds. When the number of players is odd, one player has no opponent each round and receives a bye under the event’s rules.

The result turns your format into practical needs: tables to set up, the number of matches and an estimated finish time. You can announce a credible schedule and book the venue for long enough.

How the schedule is calculated

Match tables = players ÷ 2, rounded down. Swiss matches = that number multiplied by the Swiss rounds. A top cut of 4, 8, 16 or 32 players adds 2, 3, 4 or 5 single-elimination rounds and 3, 7, 15 or 31 matches respectively.

Duration = the round time for every round + the turnover time between two rounds. No turnover is added after the final. Example: 33 players, 6 rounds of 50 minutes, 10 minutes between rounds and a Top 8 need 16 match tables, 103 matches and 8 hr 50 min.

The planner does not choose the official number of rounds, the top cut, pairings, byes, breaks or tiebreakers, and it does not model best-of-three timing beyond the round length you enter. It replaces neither Tournament Operations Manager (TOM) nor the official rules documents.

What the result includes

You get the estimated finish time, the total duration, the maximum number of tables, the Swiss matches, any bye, the top cut rounds and the total number of matches.

The share link carries only your six settings. No player name, match result or personal data is requested or sent.

Frequently asked questions

How many tables does a Pokémon TCG tournament need?

Each match puts two players at one table, so the planner divides the number of players by two and rounds down. With an odd number of players, the player who receives the bye does not use a match table that round.

How are byes counted?

With an odd number of players, one player receives a bye in every Swiss round. The planner counts one possible bye per round but never chooses who receives it.

How many rounds does a Top 8 add?

A Top 8 adds three single-elimination rounds: quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final. A Top 4 adds two and a Top 16 adds four.

How many Swiss rounds should I run?

The official Play! Pokémon tournament rules set the number of Swiss rounds and the top cut from the attendance. Read the current documents and enter those figures; the planner does not pick them for you.

Is the finish time guaranteed?

No. It assumes every round lasts the time entered and starts on schedule. Add your own margin for extra turns, announcements, breaks and incidents.
